Pensacola, Fl. - After carding a second round score of 8-under 62, Steve Shellock takes the 36 holes lead at the Pensacola Country Club, in stage one of the Web.com Tour qualifying school.
Following his opening round of 68, Shellock kept a clean card with eight birdies en route to his 62. Which was the best score of the day.
Shellock, a regular on the Fore the Players Golf Tour in central Florida, won the tour's summer series earning 4,165 points, and finished third overall in 2013, earning $16,623.
Garrett Osborn backed his first round score of 66 up with a second round score of 6-under 64, to tie for the 36 hole lead with Shellock.
The former UAB golfer began his day on the back-nine where he played steady golf, before back-to-back birdies on Nos. 16 and 17 propelled him to his inward nine. Four more birdies over his next six holes saw his score go to 6-under on his round.
The Birmingham, Al. resident had one lone bogey today, coming at the par-4, 8th. Though he quickly rebounded by birdieing the par-4, 9th. His finishing hole of the day, ending with a 64 and a share of the lead.
Matt Picanso of Vista, Ca. fired a second round score of 63 to get him to 9-under overall and currently in solo second, behind the lead of Shellock and Osborn.
Mike Welsh and Ken Looper are two back of the leaders at 8-under with Blake Sattler (67, 67) and first round leader Chris DeForest (64, 70) four back at 6-under.
Hometown player Will Dottley is currently at 1-under overall after rounds of 68 and 71, nine shots off the lead.
