Players to Watch at the Honda Classic

The PGA Tour begins it's Florida swing this week, at the 2012 Honda Classic hosted by PGA National.

This year marks the sixth year that PGA National has hosted this event.

The Champions course at PGA National boasts two of the PGA Tour's hardest par-threes of the 206 the players will face all season.

No. 1 and No. 2 on that list to be exact, are holes 15 and 17.

Of course, the course is best known for "The Bear Trap". The three hole stretch from No. 15 to No. 17. A par-three, a par-four and a par-three that combined to be played at 11.178 in 2011, overall.

PGA National since hosting the Honda Classic the last five years has been in the top-15 courses, in regards to greens hit in regulation.

Let's look at a few players to keep your eyes on this week at PGA National.

Rory McIlroy

What's not to say about the 22-year old Irishman as of late. In his last 11 starts around the globe. McIlroy has finished in the top-three, eight times.

Those finishes include; two wins and runner-up four times.

McIlroy's best finish at PGA National was in 2009, where he finished in a tie for 13th. With the way he is striking the ball. Look for that position to change this week.

Mark Wilson

Wilson could be the most under-rated player on the PGA Tour right now.

The 37-year old Wisconsin native has three PGA Tour victories in the past 11 months. Including his victory at the Humana Challenge in January.

Wilson also finished third at the WGC-Accenture Match Play last week and sits fourth on the PGA Tour in Greens In Regulation, which is a big key to winning at PGA National.

Keegan Bradley

The reigning PGA Champion has seemed to make being near the top of the leader board a regular occurrence so far in 2012.

Though he went 1-1 at the Match Play last week and losing in a playoff at the Northern Trust Open. The 2011 Rookie of the Year is ranked 17th on the PGA Tour in Greens in Regulation and first in the all-around ranking.

Bradley is starting this year just as he finished off 2011, very strongly. He almost assuredly will contend this week at the Honda Classic.
