Phillip Mollica ride a third round score of 64 at the Testoril Peach State Tour Championship to the lead, and an overall score of 17-under par.
The former Clemson Tiger opened the Tour Championship up with scores of 65 (R1) and 70 (R2), before equaling the events lowest round of 64 in round three.
Starting out with back-to-back birdies is one way to get a round going and move up the leader board. And that's just what Mollica did to begin his round at The Georgia Club in Statham, Ga.
Solid golf after those opening birdies on the front nine, with an added Ace on the par-3, 8th would see him make the turn at 4-under par.
Birdies on Nos. 10, 13, 14 and 16 would cap off the day's low round and see Mollica atop the leader board with 18 holes remaining.
36 hole co-leader Mark Silvers continued his strong play in round three, carding a bogey free 68. Ending his day one stroke behind the lead of Mollica.
Back-to-back clean cards for Silvers has him in prime position and in the final pairing with Mollica on Thursday. With a chance at the Testoril Peach State Tour Championship.
2013 Peach State Tour leading money winner Jay Mcluen also finds himself in good position after 54 holes. After carding a third round score of 66. He is only two strokes off the lead heading into the final round.
Mcluen will have to remember what snack he had after making the turn today. As he went on a birdie-binge on the back nine.
Back-to-back birdies on No. 10 and No. 11 just didn't seem enough. He went on to birdie four in a row from Nos. 13 through 16 en route to his 66.
The stage is now set for tomorrow's final round in the 2013 Testoril Peach State Tour Championship.
Mollica at 17-under, leads Silvers (-16), Mcluen (-15), Brent Witcher, Kyle Thompson and Eddie Lee (-14) with 18 holes left to decide the event.
