Mark Silvers fired a second consecutive score of 6-under 66 during round two of the Hopkins Golf Peach State Tour Championship. Jumping to the top of the leader board at 12-under, sharing the lead with Will McCurdy, who carded a second round score of 4-under, 67.
Silvers, who carded only one bogey in his opening round on Monday. Kept his score card clean in round two, en route to his second 66 in two days.
The 'Big Break Greenbrier' winner got his round off with a birdie at the par-5, opening hole at The Georgia Club in Statham, Ga.
Two more circles on the card would have Silvers making the turn at 3-under par, heading to the back nine.
Silvers began his back nine on fire, birdieing three of the first four holes (Nos. 10, 12 & 13). Closing out his round with five pars coming in, and back-to-back 66's to put him in a tie for the lead.
McCurdy opened his Tour Championship up with 7-under 65. Also backed up his great opening round with a 5-under 67. Ending in a tie for the lead after two rounds with Silver.
Just as Silvers, the Auburn, Al. native opened with a birdie on the par-5, first. With only one bogey on the car coming at the par-4, 7th. McCurdy turned in a front nine score of 3-under par.
Adding two birdies on the back nine, on holes 11 and 17, would end his second round at The Georgia Club at 5-under, 67.
Silvers and McCurdy have a two stroke advantage heading into round three over; Eddie Lee (first round leader), Chas Narramore and Kyle Thompson who are all at 10-under. As well as group of five golfer at 9-under including; Rick Cochran III, Tyler Mitchell, Phillip Mollica, Brandon Holtz and Jay McLuen.
