eGolf Tour: Timothy Madigan Grabs 36 Hole Lead at NorthStone

2012 NorthStone Open defending champion Timothy Madigan (-9) grabbed the lead in Huntersville, NC. after carding a second score of 6-under, 54. Taking a one shot lead over last weeks winner at the Salisbury Open, Will Collins.

The Rio Rancho, NM. native began his round with steady par golf. Opening up round two with four straight pars. Then finding his stride later on the front nine.

Back-to-Back birdies on Nos. 5 and 6 got him to 2-under on his round and  5-under overall. Adding another circle on the par-5, 8th, Madigan would make the turn in 33, 3-under and now 6-under par for the tournament.

Just as the front nine, the former New Mexico State golfer began with four straight pars on his inward nine.

Nearly mirror images on the score card, he carded back-to-back birdies on Nos. 14 and 15, taking his score even lower on his round to 5-under par and 8-under for the tournament.

Just for good measure, Madigan carded one final birdie on the closing par-4, 18th to card a second round score of 6-under, 32 to take a one shot lead over Collins heading into Thursday's final round.

Collins, who won last week at the Salisbury Open is riding that hot streak into this week's event at NorthStone.

After an opening round of 6-under 65, the former University of Virginia golfer played steady golf in round two. Which included three birdies to just one bogey to card a 2-under, 69.

Collins' lone bogey came at the par-3, 7th. However, he quickly rebounded with two birdies in a three hole stretch (Nos. 10 & 12) to open his inward nine. Ending the day just one stroke off the lead of Madigan at 8-under par.

Round three is set for Thursday morning with the top of leader board packed tightly together.

Madigan lead at -9. Followed by Collins -8, Frank Adams III -7, Jesse Hutchings -6 with Drew Weaver, Brendan Kelly and Jace Long just four back at -5.
