McIlroy stets early 2012 schedule

Reigning U.S. Open champion Rory McIlroy announced via his twitter account on Monday afternoon the early portion of his 2012 world wide schedule.

It looks as though it is a mirror image of his 2011 schedule, though this year, he will be a member of the PGA and European Tour.

The young Northern Irishmen will make his U.S. debut at the World Golf Championships - Accenture Match Play Championship, February 22-26.

McIlroy posted this tweet on Monday, "@McIlroyRory A lot of people asking for my 2012 schedule, here are the first few events: Abu Dhabi Dubai WGC Matchplay Honda Classic WGC Doral Masters"

This season will mark the first since 2012; after a one year hiatus, that McIlroy will be a full member of the PGA Tour.

He will be looking to make at least 16 starts, very similar to what he did in 2010.

His early schedule includes; Abu Dhabi Golf Championship Jan. 26-29, Dubai Desert Classic Feb 8-12, WGC Accenture Match Play Championship Feb. 22-26, Honda Classic Mar. 1-4, WGC-Cadillac Championship Mar. 8-11, then the Masters Apr. 5-8.

McIlroy will not however, play in the Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2012.

He does have to have 15 starts this season to retain his PGA Tour status for 2013.
